TEAM DONATE LIFE & RACE ACROSS AMERICA
Team Donate Life is a team of competitive bicycle racers consisting of doctors, surgeons, nurses, and Jason Weckworth, a local, recent live transplant donor, and long-time friend of Toms. On 6/19/05 - 6/27/05, Tom donated his time on a 24 hour basis, as part of the Bicycle road crew for the annual Insight Race Across America from San Diego, CA to Atlantic City, NJ. This race is an effort to engage individuals and companies around the country in the cause through personal commitment to organ and blood donations. Tom continues to support Team Donate Life by attending training sessions and assisting as needed.
ANNUAL RUN TO FEED THE HUNGRY
Tom Wilbert, owner of System 3, and his wife Julie, participate in this race annually on Thanksgiving morning, along with their youngest daughter, Katie. They have been active participants in this race since Y2K.
In 2002, we raised over $1,200 for the local Sacramento Food Bank!
In 2003, we raised over $1,800 for the local Sacramento Food Bank!
In 2004, we raised over $2,500 for the local Sacramento Food Bank!
In 2005, we raised over $2,800 for the local Sacramento Food Bank!
In 2006, we raised over $3,100 for the local Sacramento Food Bank!
CHRISTMAS PROMISE
Christmas Promise is a very unique and personal Christmas project.
Every year, Christmas Promise answers as many "Dear Santa" letters from needy children in our community as donations and volunteers will allow.
When our Santas arrive at the homes on Christmas Eve, they find few signs of Christmas. They have encountered poverty of all kinds: homes without electricity...a family whose only source of heat was the oven until Santa brought them a space heater...a mother and her four children living in a rundown motel room with only one bed...the list goes on and on.
One child met Santa at the door and said, "But Santa, we can't pay you." Many children, when told the family can't afford Christmas, think that Santa has to be paid to come. Children often write that they have no money to pay him, but will Santa come anyway?
In 2005, our System 3 staff were active in raising funds for the Christmas Promise program via a Holiday Raffle. System 3, Inc. matched our employees donations, and were honored to make a donation over $1,600! In 2006, we donated $1,800. It is our intention to continue supporting this program, keeping the true essence of the Christmas Spirit!
ASIAN TSUNAMI RELIEF EFFORT
Our System 3 staff were active in raising funds for the Relief Efforts following the devastating Asia Tsunami on 12/26/04. We held a Holiday Raffle for numerous prizes, and for each dollar donated by our employees, System 3 Inc., matched the donation.
Tom and Julie Wilbert traveled to Theptharo, Thailand in 2003. After the Tsumani they were saddened to discover that the Theptharo resort where many friends were made, was completely destroyed, with all but 1 employee of the resort perishing. We were honored to donate over $1,000 to the Theptharo, Thailand relief effort that was sponsored by TBF Racing, Inc. These funds were distributed directly to the families of the staff that suffered loss of life.
